Committee Members were asked to approve the Draft Revised Statement of Licensing Policy, as presented, and to agree to the undertaking of the required consultation programme.

RESOLVED that

a)    the amendments shown in the Draft Statement of Licensing Policy, as appended to the report, be approved;

 

b)    the Draft Revised Statement of Licensing Policy be approved for consultation;

 

c)    the Licensing Manager be authorised to carry out the consultation programme, as outlined within the report.

Members were updated in respect of the current capacity issues at the Depot in relation to Taxi Compliance Tests and requested to approve an amendment to the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy to accredit Ashfield External MOT Stations to undertake Taxi Compliance Tests.

 

During consideration of the item, the Licensing Manager asked Members to consider a further recommendation enabling the decision regarding the use of external MOT Testing Stations to be kept under review pending any future redevelopment of the Council’s Motor Transport facilities at the Depot.

 

RESOLVED that

a)    the amendment to 6.9 of the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy, to include the additional External MOT Testing Stations based within Ashfield to also undertake Taxi Compliance Testing, be approved;

 

b)    delegated authority be granted to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director – Place, to approve the necessary inclusions to the Policy;

 

c)    it be agreed that the use of the External MOT Testing Stations be kept under constant review in light of any future redevelopment of the Council’s Motor Transport facilities, with the intention that when the Council’s Taxi Testing Capacity at the Depot is back at a sufficient level, that the Taxi Testing Service be brought back in-house.
