Committee was asked to approve the arrangements for the appointment of the Corporate Resources Director/Chief Finance Officer (S151) and the interim arrangements for the Chief Finance Officer (S151) statutory role.

 

Members were advised that a process had been undertaken to seek four written quotations from suitable recruitment agencies to assist the Council with the search for a suitable Corporate Resources Director/Chief Finance Officer (S151). The results were conveyed to Members with a request to approve engagement of the successful recruitment agency.

 

RESOLVED that

a)    the Chief Executive be authorised to commence an external recruitment process for the appointment of a permanent Corporate Resources Director/Chief Finance Officer (S151), as set out in the report;

 

b)    delegated authority be granted to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, to finalise any updates needed to the job description and person specification for the role of Corporate Resources Director/Chief Finance Officer (S151) as attached to the report at Appendix 1;

 

c)    following a competitive process, the engagement of Starfish Executive Search Specialists be approved to assist with the search for a suitable Corporate Resources Director/Chief Finance Officer (S151);

 

d)    approval be also given to the indicative timelines set out in the report with delegated authority granted to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, to finalise dates in due course;

 

e)    to recommend with effect from 7 October 2024 the appointment of Andrew Page, Finance Services Manager as the Interim Chief Finance Officer (S151) to Council until the commencement of the permanent Corporate Resources Director / Chief Finance Officer (S151).
